Tara Bach is an ethereal abstract artist from Saugerties, NY.

Tara finds beauty and joy in the freedom of an abstract painting process. She likes to play with the space between the immediate and familiar (e.g., nature) and the more distant (e.g., representations of the cosmos). Whether it is the calm and peaceful essence of the ever-changing tide, the power of a vigorous storm, or the wonders of distant galaxies, the changing elements resonate with her and remind her of the glorious uncertainties of life.

The result is a body of work that alternates between a celestial/cerebral feel and one which is more grounded.  Balancing elements of spontaneity and control, she explores the unknown that lies between the abstract and the formal. Color and movement share space on the canvas. She creates luminous, enchanting worlds that transport the viewer to revelatory points of view.

In recent years, Tara’s artwork has taken on more of a storytelling aspect, with overt symbolism pointing the viewer to narratives grounded in a search for the light within. Upcoming projects include creating her own tarot card deck as well as the addition of more overt human design and astrological aspects to her stories.

In addition to her work on the canvas, Tara considers digital communication to be a crucial component of her overall artistic expression. She uses music, video, and scripted overlay on social media platforms such as Instagram (@bach.tara) as an additional means for self-expression and connection to community. In the months and years ahead, she sees her online work expanding even further into video storytelling and is excited for the new avenues of communication it will open up with both her peers and fans of her work.

Tara doesn’t see her art as containing any particular message. “I’m not trying to tell people anything,” she says. “I’m just trying to connect with them.” She sees art as a vehicle for taking her abundance of positive energy and sharing it with the world. In doing so, she hopes to point others to the beauty that already resides in their own infinite nature.
